We converted the Xbox start time into each time zone ourselves and worked out storage share and download times from the 212 GB figure.

When does GTA 6 pre-load start in your time zone?
November 10, but the exact time depends on your console. Rockstar says PS5 pre-loading begins “at midnight local time in your respective time zone.” On Xbox Series X|S, it “begins globally on Tuesday, November 10 at 12 am GMT.” So PS5 players in New Zealand and Australia go first. Xbox players in the Americas actually start on the evening of November 9.

How big is GTA 6, and will it fit on your console?
Up to 212 GB, and Rockstar says the size depends on your device. It will fit on every current console, but not with much room to spare on smaller ones. Sony’s blog tells PS5 owners to clear “a minimum of 212GB.” Here’s how much of a new console’s usable space that takes (usable space figures are approximate):

Already have Call of Duty and a few other big games installed? On a Series S or a launch PS5 you’ll probably need to delete something. You can move PS5 games to a USB drive and Xbox Series games to a USB drive to free space, but they have to be back on internal storage, or an M.2 SSD / Xbox Storage Expansion Card, to play.
How long will the 212 GB download take?
From about 1.5 hours on a fast connection to most of a day on a slow one. These are best-case figures we calculated for a 212 GB download at full line speed. Real speeds on launch week are usually slower because servers are busy, which is the reason to start on November 10 and not wait for November 19.

If your broadband plan has a monthly data cap (FUP), 212 GB can take a big chunk of it, so check the limit before you start. Don’t try it on a mobile hotspot.
How do you set up GTA 6 to pre-load automatically?
Pre-order a digital copy, then let the console download overnight. Rockstar recommends keeping auto-downloads on and the console in Rest Mode (PS5) or Sleep mode (Xbox).
- Pre-order the digital edition on PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, signed in to the account you’ll play on.
- Free up at least 212 GB on internal storage (or on an M.2 SSD / Storage Expansion Card).
- On PS5, go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode and turn on Stay Connected to the Internet. Then make sure auto-download is on under Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates.
- On Xbox, go to Settings > System > Updates and turn on Keep my games & apps up to date. Then set Power options to Sleep, not Shutdown.
- After 12:00 AM (PS5) or 5:30 AM IST (Xbox) on November 10, check your download queue. If it hasn’t started, open the game page in the store and pick Download.
Can you pre-load the GTA 6 physical edition?
Not before November 12, and there’s no disc to install from. Rockstar says code-in-box editions go on sale in stores from November 12. The box holds a download code, so you’ll still be downloading up to 212 GB. That leaves about a week to finish before launch, but on a slow connection don’t leave it until the last day. If you want the November 10 start, buy digital.
