Nonogram Master is a free nonogram puzzle game you can play online on Gipcus. Use the number clues on each row and column to fill the right squares and reveal a hidden pixel picture. No download, no sign-up. It runs straight in your browser, so it fits a coffee break or the gap between meetings.

Nonograms are also called Picross, Griddlers, or Japanese crosswords. If you like Sudoku or Minesweeper-style logic, this pure deduction puzzle should suit you: you never need to guess.

How to play Nonogram Master

  1. Each number next to a row or column is a run of filled squares in that line.
  2. Several numbers mean several separate runs, read in order, with at least one empty square between them.
  3. Fill the squares you are sure about, and mark the squares you know are empty with an X.
  4. Keep cross-checking rows against columns until every clue is satisfied and the picture appears.

Controls

  • PC: left-click to fill a square, right-click to mark it with an X.
  • Mobile and tablet: pick a mode (fill or X), then tap a cell.
  • Click and drag along a line to fill or mark several squares at once.

Tips for solving nonograms faster

  • Start with big numbers. A clue that covers the whole line, or most of it, lets you fill overlapping squares right away.
  • Use the overlap trick. Push a run as far left as it can go, then as far right. Any squares covered both times must be filled.
  • Mark empties aggressively. X-ing out finished lines and impossible cells is what unlocks the next row or column.
  • Work the edges. A filled square on the border usually fixes where that whole run sits.
  • Take short sessions. Small grids take a few minutes, which makes them a good office-break puzzle. Save the bigger boards for longer breaks.
