PlayStation has revealed the next batch of free games for PS Plus subscribers. August’s PlayStation Plus free games lineup is particularly strong; all three of the games subscribers can claim starting August 1 are great: PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams, and Death’s Door. As always, all PS Plus members, regardless of tier, will be able to claim the freebies.
Earlier this year, developer Media Molecule announced it would stop supporting Dreams with updates on September 1. That doesn’t mean the PlayStation exclusive isn’t worth checking out, though. Far from it. The unique game creation tool has a staggering library of user-created content, and creators can still share their projects with the community for the foreseeable future. Dreams really does exemplify the belief that the only limit is the bounds of your imagination. There are some seriously impressive games made inside Dreams, so even if you don’t feel like creating your own stuff, there’s plenty to check out.
Death’s Door was one of the best indie games of 2021. The isometric action-adventure starring a little crow with a sword is set in a beautiful and mysterious world. The puzzles are engaging, the combat is satisfyingly challenging, and each boss fight is a unique test of wit and prowess. If you like The Legend of Zelda, you’ll probably like Death’s Door.
Meanwhile, golf fans can enjoy one of the best sims in a long time. Featuring the return of Tiger Woods to the video game golf world, PGA Tour 2K23 has brilliant swing mechanics.
