In Short
- PUBG Studios’ new free-to-play shooter PUBG DED.NET has started its first closed beta on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- The test runs from noon Central Time on October 9 through October 12 (noon CT is 10:30 PM IST).
- Access is limited to selected North American players aged 17+, and they can invite friends into their squads.
Krafton has opened the first hands-on test for PUBG DED.NET, according to a Krafton-provided report published by Korea Daily. If you got a beta invite, the big takeaway is simple: you have until October 12 to play, and you don’t have to play alone, because selected testers can pull friends straight into their squad.
Selected Testers Can Invite Friends Into Their Squad
Beta access was handed out in stages to players picked from the waiting list on the game’s official website. Krafton says selected users can directly invite acquaintances to their squads to play cooperative tactical matches. So if one person in your group got in, that is the route for the rest of you to try it this weekend.
There are limits. The test is restricted to North American users aged 17 and older with a PlayStation Network or Xbox account. It runs only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC test in this round.
What PUBG DED.NET Actually Is
PUBG DED.NET is not another battle royale map. Krafton describes it as a hybrid shooter that keeps PUBG’s gunplay but adds a lighter, play-with-friends tone and a roguelite progression system. It is designed mainly for consoles and will be free-to-play.
The game is set in Cascadia, a fictional territory in 1996 inspired by the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Instead of one-and-done rounds, players build up characters across a “run” made of several connected matches, adjusting squad tactics as combat conditions change. The game’s official trailer debuted at Gamescom 2026 in August, and this beta is the first time regular players can get their hands on the client.
Why Krafton Is Running This Test
Krafton says the beta is about checking that real-time matchmaking holds up and measuring technical performance across devices under heavy load. Testers can send feedback through in-game surveys and the official Discord, where they can also talk with the developers.
A Krafton representative said the team will study data and feedback from this test to refine the live service build. Once North American testing wraps up, Krafton plans to expand tests to other regions step by step. No dates for those tests or for the full launch have been announced.
What This Means for You
If you are in North America and got an invite, play before October 12 and bring your squad. If you are outside North America, including India, you cannot join this round. Keep an eye on the official site for the next regional tests.
