Inside Destiny 2’s Grasp of Avarice dungeon, released with the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, are 12 messages in a bottle written by Wilhelm-7 that you must collect to unlock the Hraesveglur Exotic Gjallarhorn ornament. In this guide we’ll go over the location of all 12 messages so that you can unlock the “The Richest Dead Man Alive” triumph and deck your Gjallarhorn out with a new ornament.

MESSAGE 1

Once you open the hole inside the loot cave, follow the path down the tunnel. A few steps into the tunnel, on the floor, you’ll find your first message hidden among some crystals to your left. All of these messages have a glowing green top, so they’re pretty hard to miss if you’re looking straight at them.

MESSAGE 2

You’ll find the second message not too far after the first message. Once the cavern opens up you’ll cross a stone bridge. Directly after you cross the bridge, take a few steps onto the rusty grates, turn around, and look to your left. The next message is tucked in next to a large crystal.

MESSAGE 3

This message is right at the beginning of the booby trap section. It’s inside the second room on the right, where you open the large circular door.

Once you flip the switch, look at the ceiling to your left. There is a small hole that you can jump into and that is where you’ll find message three.

MESSAGE 4

Message four comes after jumping out of the third pipe on the right. After exiting the pipe, turn around and look up to your right.

You’ll see another small hole that you’ll be able to jump into. You’ll find the fourth message inside.

MESSAGE 5

Message five is inside the next area, where you have to shift the large, green walls.

Right next to the switch that opens the large door near the entrance of this room (after you’ve already shifted the smaller doors three times), is a small cubby to the right. You’ll find message five inside.

MESSAGE 6

After getting past the rolling barrel, proceed into the next room.

Instead of turning left to climb up to the vent, hug the right wall until you find an open door (beware the trap pad right inside).

Proceed to the back of that hallway, where message six is in a small cubby to the back right.

MESSAGE 7

After defeating Phry’zhia the Insatiable, the dungeon’s first boss, exit their room to the back right.

Directly inside the door, on the left, you’ll find a tube sticking upwards. Jump inside the cylinder to find message seven.

MESSAGE 8

The next two messages come after landing in the skull at the end of the sparrow section, so stick around until you collect both eight and nine.

For message eight, turn around so that you can look outside of the mouth of the skull. Go to the right side of the mouth where you’ll find some dirt platforms that you can climb down. The message is on the bottom-most platform, tucked up against a wall. You’ll need to face the skull again to see it.

MESSAGE 9

Climb back up into the skull after grabbing message eight and make your way to the back, where the crystals are.

A few feet into these crystals, before you jump down, you should see a large, horizontal one attached to the left wall. Jump onto that crystal and run up to where it attaches to the wall to find message nine.

MESSAGE 10

Messages 10 and 11 are inside the large cannon room in the lagoon. Orient yourself from the spawn platform looking towards the large shield. Message 10 will be on the island to the back left.

You know you’re on the correct island when you see what looks like a large jet engine hanging above it. Jump off of the roof or a nearby building and into the large jet engine to find message 10.

MESSAGE 11

Message 11 is on the middle island where the loot chest spawns, so finish the encounter before worrying about this one. Jump onto the ground underneath the platform. You’ll find message 11 tucked into the small hill under the middle of the platform.

MESSAGE 12

Once you defeat the boss, your final message is inside of the now-open container, right behind the chest where your loot will spawn. Just make sure you grab the final message before you go to orbit.
